The Role:

We have a great opportunity for a Category Assistant to join our Trading Team where you will report into one of the Category Managers and will be responsible for assisting the Category Manager to develop and manage product ranges, which achieve company sales, margin and promotional income objectives as outlined in the category strategy.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Supporting the team with all aspects of the promotional process, ensuring an excellent level of detail, and on-time delivery
  • Producing weekly/monthly analysis and reviews for in-season trading performance of categories to identify opportunities to improve commercial performance
  • Liaising with suppliers to progress branded and own label product requirements as discussed with the Category Manager
  • Ensuring that all administration and data input relating to product information, cost prices and supplier details are accurately maintained
  • Continuously support the monitoring of competitor activity and the marketplace
  • To assist in the management of the critical path to deliver range reviews within agreed timescales
  • Owning the invoicing process, and dealing with any supplier queries
  • Implementing and owning processes to ensure effective ways of working
The Person:

You will have proven experience of working in a customer focused administration role and have great attention to detail but most of all be willing to learn and to continuously improve both yourself and your team's performance.

  • Able to build relationships with both suppliers and internal multi-discipline team
  • IT literate including excel skills, must be confident in using and maintaining spread sheets
  • Good level of numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail
  • A good communicator, with strong time management skills
