The Role 

“We need a Paralegal, to join our thriving in-house Legal and EHS Function.” 

The Paralegal will support the Fire Risk Manager, Health and Safety Managers and the Legal Property Department.   Reporting to the Fire Risk Manager with a dotted line to Head of Legal, Property, the successful candidate will support the team and respond to Fire Safety and Health and Safety queries relating to common areas both inside and outside of Holland and Barrett's demised areas and assist the Legal Property Department with post completion matters. 

The successful candidate can expect to take on an interesting and varied caseload, both running their own files and working closely to assist the team.   

Key Duties Include: 

  • Researching lease agreements and searching appropriate registries to identify and subsequently liaise with Landlords with regard to common escape routes our colleagues and visitors may need to use in an emergency, that may have been identified as unsafe due to lack of maintenance, or otherwise compromised 
  • Liaising with Landlords / landlords managing agents with regards to Health and Safety issues identified in common areas 
  • Compose responses and communications to Landlords and their Managing Agents in relation to requests for documents and maintenance queries in respect of premises occupied and controlled by Holland and Barrett and also request Fire Risk Assessments covering the Landlord controlled common areas 
  • Liaising with internal colleagues in Property/Estates regarding lease agreements and historical issues 
  • Deal with post completion requirements including lease registration applications and Stamp Duty Land Tax 
The Person

About you 

Our ideal candidate will: 

  • Have an interest in Fire, Health and Safety and need to be conversant with the articles of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and have a general knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations 
  • Have experience in dealing with commercial property related matters 
  • Ideally have, with some property litigation experience
