Senior Quality Assurance Engineer – Mobile Devices (14235)

It's a really exciting time to be at Holland & Barrett. We are investing across all areas of our business with a vision of empowering our customers to live happier, healthier lives. Our mission is to be the leading player in global wellness chosen by millions as their trusted partner for personalised wellness journeys. To achieve this goal, we are embarking on a radical transformation. We are recruiting top talent in all areas of our business, from Finance to Digital Marketing, from HR to IT, as well as new functions around Health and Wellness.

The Role:

Senior Quality Assurance Engineer - In Store

The Role
We are looking for a Quality Assurance (QA) engineer to develop and execute automated and
exploratory (manual) tests to ensure the high quality of software used by our In Store colleagues.

The QA Engineer role plays a crucial part in our company's product development process. You'll be
working in a cross-functional squad with Product, Engineering and UX, collaborating with them to
build world class UI experiences through lean agile methodologies (Kanban, Scrum) via our CI/CD
platform, allowing a fast and easy pathway to production for new features or bug fixes.

Your role will take you through the full lifecycle from requirements analysis and capture to deployment.
Alongside our Software Engineers, you will help define test suites and ensure the quality of our
automated tests, executing manual testing as required to verify that requirements are met. With
your experience of testing best practices, our Software Engineers will learn from you and grow their
own automation testing abilities.

If you hold an engineering background and enjoy providing end-to-end solutions to software quality
problems, we'd like to meet you.

The Team
One of the largest parts of the business we are looking to grow and change our technical capability
in are our Stores.

We are looking at the future of shopping in a post-Covid time and we are now integrating Handheld
Terminals in all of our stores. These are the enabler for us to modernise our store processes and we
have developed a suite of apps which will allow customers to check to see if an item is in stock here
or nearby, provide personalised product recommendations and simplify the colleague experiences
around stock management and pricing.

We are a full stack engineering team, developing our Android apps as well as the services needed to
support our use cases if they do not already exist. Our software is developed in Kotlin.

The Person:

Skills & Experience

Essential:
• Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes
• Hands on experience with automated mobile testing tools like JUnit, Espresso, Appium, etc.
• Knowledge of RESTful web services and techniques to verify their behaviour
• History of guiding Software Engineers to improve their own testing practices
• Ability to propose new tooling or techniques to improve the quality of our testing
• Proactive in identifying gaps in and solutions for our QA process
• Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
• Ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to Have:
• Experience of retail, either as a QAE or store colleague is a plus
• Experience of cloud testing platforms like BrowserStack, AWS Device Farm, etc.
• Experience of testing apps that integrate with peripherals.
